Reader visibility
Understanding reader visibility on ResearchGate
On ResearchGate, seeing who has read your publications is a mutual process. You can only see who has read your work if you also allow others to see when you read their research, and they have enabled the same setting.
How to see who has read your publications
To enable reader visibility:
Go to your Privacy settings.
Under the "Your activity on ResearchGate" section, check the box next to "Publication authors can see that I have read their publications."
Once this setting is enabled, you can find detailed information about your audience and what they've read in your Weekly stats report.
When others can see that you've read their publications
For publication authors to see that you've read their work, both you and the author must have enabled the reader visibility setting in your Privacy settings.
Mutual visibility: Only authors who have enabled this setting will see that you read their work, provided you have also enabled it.
Co-authors: If a publication has multiple co-authors, and only some have enabled the setting, only those co-authors will see your reading activity. For example, if you read a publication by two co-authors, and only one has enabled the setting, only that one author will see that you've read their work.
Anonymity: If either you or an author has not enabled this setting, your reading activity will remain private from each other.
Important note: You can change your reader visibility settings at any time in your Privacy settings. If you choose to untick the box, granting anonymity, you will also not be able to see which researchers have read your publications.
