Your ResearchGate profile represents your researcher identity. It’s where others can see the details about your experience, achievements, and research that you’ve added.
How do I view my profile?
You can easily reach your profile by clicking on your profile photo at the top right-hand corner of every ResearchGate page, and selecting Your profile from the dropdown menu.
If you want to share a link to your profile, you can also find your profile’s URL by either visiting your profile and checking your browser bar, or under Your public profile address in your Privacy Settings.
Who can see my profile?
ResearchGate profiles are visible to all logged-in ResearchGate members. When you sign up, your profile will automatically be publicly visible to logged-out visitors as well.
You can manage your profile’s public visibility by unchecking or checking the Enable your public profile checkbox in your Privacy Settings.
Your profile will always be searchable for other ResearchGate members. Unless you have chosen to make your profile private in your Privacy Settings, your profile will also be searchable by non-members.
How much information is visible on my profile?
If your public profile is enabled, basic profile information such as your primary affiliation, disciplines, degree, etc. is visible to everyone. If you’ve disabled your public profile, this information will only be visible to logged-in ResearchGate members.
Contact information you add to your profile (e.g., email address, personal website, and X (formerly Twitter) profile) is visible only to your ‘mutual followers’ (people you follow who also follow you).
From your Privacy Settings, you can customize the visibility of other researcher information you add to your profile, such as your experience, skills, awards, and memberships. In your Privacy Settings, under About you, you can choose to make this information visible to everyone, mutual followers only, or ResearchGate members only. Under Your public profile, you can also choose whether logged-out viewers can see your profile photo or Q&A posts.
Will my profile show up in ResearchGate searches?
Your profile will always be searchable for other ResearchGate members. Unless you have chosen to make your profile private in your Privacy Settings, your profile will also be searchable by non-members.
Will my profile show up in search engines?
To make your profile page visible in search engine results, you will need to select two options in your Privacy Settings:
- Go to your Privacy Settings
- Under About you, select Everyone from the dropdown options
- Check the checkbox next to Enable your public profile
Your changes will be automatically updated.
Note: Publication pages are automatically publicly visible and available to be indexed by search engines. Disabling your public profile does not prevent your research from being indexed on search engines.
Importing your CV to your profile
Currently, it's not possible to upload your CV to your ResearchGate profile, but other options are available. For example, you can add most of the information contained in your CV to your profile, including skills, affiliations, education, awards, and memberships.
