Adding your professional experience and education history to your profile is a great way for potential collaborators to learn about you and your achievements.
You can add all your current and past institutional affiliations and educational history in the Affiliations and Education sections of your profile.
What is a primary or additional affiliation?
Your primary affiliation is the institution where you currently work or conduct research. If you have multiple current affiliations, your primary affiliation is the place where you do most of your research. Your primary affiliation is displayed at the top of your profile, below your name.
An additional affiliation is any other institution where you work or conduct research or were previously affiliated with.

Can I link my affiliation or education to an institution?
When adding a new affiliation or education entry, you can select from the institutions in our database or enter your institution’s name as text. If your institution is in our database, your affiliation or education entry will link to the institution’s page.
To keep our institution records accurate and up to date, we may occasionally update the names of institutions in our database. Affiliations or Education entries that link to an institution page will be updated automatically.
You can edit your institutional affiliations and education history at any time.

Publications are missing from my institution/department
At the moment, publications on ResearchGate are only attributed to one institution/department. As publications are carried out at a particular institution/department, they are only included in the publication count for the institution/department that we identify using the publication's metadata, rather than the author's current affiliation.
We have not yet finished extracting data and assigning publications, and we are constantly working on optimizing our algorithms, so if your publication should be affiliated to your department but is not yet, this will eventually happen automatically if the affiliation is mentioned in the publication's metadata or full-text. We are, unfortunately, unable at the time to edit the affiliation part of the metadata ourselves.
