What does the partnership between Wiley and ResearchGate involve?
Wiley and ResearchGate are partnering on a pilot program to make Wiley journal articles available on ResearchGate. This new model serves our shared objectives to advance research communication and collaboration and facilitate the discovery of and access to high-quality scholarly content for researchers.
In the first phase of the partnership, the final, published full-text articles from 17 Wiley open access journals will be available on ResearchGate. In the second phase, more research content will be added from journals which are not open access.
Which journals' content will ResearchGate users be able to access under the partnership?
In the first phase of the pilot program, ResearchGate users will be able to access all research articles published from January 2019 onward in the following Wiley open access journals:
- Cancer Reports
- Diversity and Distributions
- Engineering Reports
- GCB Bioenergy
- Clinical Case Reports
- Advanced Science
- Brain and Behavior
- MicrobiologyOpen
- Evolutionary Applications
- Wind Energy
- Natural Resource Modeling
Also included are the following journals published by Wiley on behalf of the American Geophysical Union (AGU):
- AGU Advances
- Earth’s Future
- Earth and Space Science
- GeoHealth
- Journal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems
- Space Weather
In the second phase of the pilot, articles from over 85 subscription and hybrid open access journals will be available on ResearchGate and accessible to users affiliated with institutional subscribers of the journals.
How long will the partnership last, and what happens next?
The first phase of the partnership started on 8 April 2021. Wiley will gather feedback from authors, institutions, and other stakeholders to inform the next steps of the partnership.
For authors
How does the partnership affect authors?
If your article has been published in a selected journal, then an up-to-date version of the full-text will be made available by Wiley on your publication's page on ResearchGate.
This partnership doesn't affect any restrictions that otherwise apply to authors' ability to share their work on ResearchGate.
What if I don't want a full-text on my publication page?
A full-text added by Wiley is the most up-to-date published version of your article. Because it was added by Wiley, you are not responsible for it and therefore can't remove it.
ResearchGate and Wiley view the removal of barriers and the delivery of frictionless access as part of a broader goal to improve access to scientific knowledge for everyone.
What is the legal status of the Wiley articles?
The articles made available by Wiley on ResearchGate as part of the partnership program are still subject to copyright and any applicable licenses or policies. For more information, please see Wiley’s Article Sharing Guidelines and Article Sharing Policies for researchers and authors.
ResearchGate does not have any insights about copyright agreements between authors and Wiley. These Additional Terms provide information about the copyright policies that apply to full texts made available by Wiley on ResearchGate.
