Author Verification and Evaluation
Faster author identity verification during manuscript submission with Taylor & Francis.
AV&E is an identity verification and evaluation service powered by ResearchGate. It allows authors, right at the point of submission, to confirm their identity using their ResearchGate profile, giving publishers trusted signals about the people behind a submission.
As of today, this service is now available with some Taylor & Francis journals. As an author, this means that you may be asked whether you’d like to share your ResearchGate profile with a journal when you’re submitting your paper. If you’d like to do so, you can securely log in to ResearchGate and share your profile with the journal. Doing this supports editors and evaluators in verifying your identity and processing your submission faster.
What’s the benefit of this?
The scholarly publishing industry is facing unprecedented levels of submission fraud, including paper mills, fake authors, and identity misuse. While many solutions focus on detecting bad content, our solution uniquely focuses on verifying good actors – giving publishers a proactive way to protect integrity and increase trust.
What information will the journal see?
When you share your profile with a journal, editors and evaluators will have access to your ResearchGate profile information, including:
Your institutional affiliation and publishing history
Your publication and citation metrics
Your disciplines and network information, including co-authors
Is sharing limited to a specific submission?
Yes, your profile will only be shared with the journal you are submitting your manuscript to.
How do I share my profile with my submission?
If the journal you are submitting to is eligible for profile sharing, you will be asked whether you want to share your profile during the manuscript submission process on the publisher’s platform. If you decide to share, you will be directed to ResearchGate. When prompted, here’s how you enable profile sharing:
Log in to your ResearchGate account (if you aren’t already logged in)
Click “Share your profile”
From here, you will be returned to your submission to continue submitting.
Can I stop sharing my profile?
You can stop sharing your profile as part of your submission at any time directly from the Profile Sharing section in your ResearchGate Settings.
What information will ResearchGate have access to?
To provide this feature, ResearchGate will receive submission information such as your author name and manuscript title. This information is used solely to facilitate the sharing process.
